The use of genetic and genomic tools to identify species, such as DNA barcodes or environmental DNA (eDNA), has experienced considerable growth over the last two decades.

The DNA-ID conference aims to present the national and international context, as well as French initiatives in this area, at the interface between the development of fundamental knowledge on biodiversity and the implementation of public policies. The communications will present a diversity of applications and methods for different groups of organizations in mainland France and in the overseas territories, as well as the strategies and issues linked to collections and data management for research, expertise and public policies.

Who is this conference for?

Around its central theme of the molecular characterisation of biodiversity, this conference is aimed at the various communities involved in scientific research, naturalist expertise, the conservation and development of collections, and the design and implementation of public policies, in particular :

  • representatives of institutions / stakeholders
  • Researchers, assistant professors, professors
  • postgraduate students
  • engineers / technicians / data managers
  • naturalists and environmental consultants
  • taxonomic experts
  • curators of natural history collections
  • managers of natural or urban areas

Organisation and format

For its first edition, the DNA-ID conference will cover different themes related to the use of DNA to study biodiversity, according to a defined schedule.

Participants can submit an abstract for presentation of a poster in relation with the conference topics.

This first edition of the DNA-ID conference is intended to be broadly accessible, with free registration facilitating participation and exchanges between actors representing a diversity of activities and interests linked to the use of molecular tools to document biodiversity. Because the number of participants is limited, registration is mandatory.
